Where to Eat Street Food in Naples
Where to eat street food in Naples: Via dei Tribunali, Spaccanapoli, the Pignasecca market and the Quartieri Spagnoli, with a map and the tours that walk them.
The street food of Naples is concentrated in four places: Via dei Tribunali and Spaccanapoli, the two parallel streets of the old centre, and, west of Via Toledo, the Pignasecca market and the lanes of the Quartieri Spagnoli. A guided walk that covers the first two is Francesca Tours’ Naples: Old City Center Street Food Tour with Spritz, with tastings at small family-run shops, San Gregorio Armeno and Spaccanapoli, from US$47 a person (checked October 2026), rated 4.9 from 120 reviews.

Via dei Tribunali
The upper of the two old main streets, about a kilometre from Piazza Bellini past Piazza San Gaetano to Castel Capuano. This is the street of the historic pizzerias and of the fried-pizza windows, and the one most tours walk first: Pink Umbrella Tours’ tour with Spritz has a tasting on it and passes San Gaetano. Expect queues at the best-known names at lunch and dinner.
Spaccanapoli
The straight Roman street a block south, officially Via Benedetto Croce from Piazza del Gesù Nuovo and then Via San Biagio dei Librai; Spaccanapoli, “the split of Naples”, is its nickname, because it cuts the old city in two. Pastry shops and bars line it, and Via San Gregorio Armeno, the lane of nativity-crib workshops, joins it to Via dei Tribunali. Francesca Tours’ walk above covers both.
The Pignasecca market
A street market off Via Toledo near Montesanto, with fishmongers, greengrocers, delis and fry shops. Naples bay tour’s six-tasting walk is built around it: a welcome Spritz with mozzarella and cold cuts, a tarallo from a bakery, a folded pizza, a meatball in ragù, a cone of fried seafood, and babà, sfogliatella or gelato to finish. Withlocals’ private tour stops here too.
The Quartieri Spagnoli
The grid of steep, narrow lanes on the hill above Via Toledo, laid out in the 1530s under the Spanish viceroy Pedro de Toledo to house his garrison. Today it is busy, lived-in and loud, with the Maradona mural at Largo Maradona, painted in 1990 for Napoli’s second league title. Streaty’s street food and market tour goes from the Pignasecca market up into the Quartieri; it has few reviews so far and is not for vegetarians.

Where do the locals eat?
At the same counters, mostly standing: the pizzerias’ street windows for a portafoglio or a pizza fritta, the fry shops for a cuoppo, and the pastry bars for a coffee and a sfogliatella. The tours’ value is knowing which window, and in what order.
